In February of 2002, American physician and NASA astronaut Mae Jemison, took to the TED stage to discuss the importance of revitalizing and bridging together the arts and sciences in education today. Dr. Jemison emphasized that the revolutionary world we live in and experience today is a product of the ideas and work from four or five decades ago, and thereby presents the question of how we as a society are contributing to the legacies of innovation today (Jemison, 2002).
