The impetus for this site and my doctoral journey came from being asked to take part in a pilot program in the Middle East. The pilot was a collaboration between the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Education and my employer, Franklin University. I went to teach females teaching effectiveness strategies, who would in turn go on to teach other females in the Middle East. The experience was humbling, life changing, and really made me think about what kind of future I want to help others to live in. Most particularly, the kinds of educational opportunities that I hoped I might be able to assist others in experiencing. The women I served were among the bravest and most incredible citizens of the world. Education mattered. The experience has shaped my educational perspective, and my desire to research barriers to education for women and children in hard to access areas- and most particularly, how mobile technology might alleviate access issues in education. |
