(From CUR 8210 Discussion #2)
Curriculum as a plan for learning experiences provides a vehicle for ordering and directing instruction and learning (Oliva & Gordon, 2013). In curriculum development, instructors and designers provide for the curriculum vehicle and seek to keep it running smoothly. This is achieved through curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation (Oliva & Gordon, 2013).

Historically difficult to define, curriculum lies in the shadows of an uncertain future for education (Oliva & Gordon, 2013). Oliva and Gordon (2013) suggest that curriculum is a set of subjects and content that are taught in school (p.4). Curricula can be sequenced and objective within a course of study, and since state certification laws do not exist, no certifiable field of curriculum exists either (2013).
